Our Vines

Grapes

Bodegas Cadarso Ciordia has over 30 hectares of vineyards located in five different places between Aras and Viana.

Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha are the grapes used to make red wines and the white wines are made with the grapes Viura and Garnacha. The grapes are the traditional varieties cultivated growing perfectly adapted to their environment. Following the enlargement of the Council in 2007, the variety Tempranillo has also been introduced.

Ground

The altitude of our vineyards varies from 480 meters in Viana to 640 meters in Aras, occupying the slopes sheltered by the mountains of Codés on clay-limestone soils with high tilt.

Climatology

It´s an oceanic climate (Koppen climate classification: Cfb). A calcareous clay soil allows us to avoid using an irrigation system for our vineyards. The vineyards are cultivated with rain water which leads to high-quality grapes.
